Reiki Master Instructor/Practitioner
My yoga journey began in my late 30’s when I was searching for anxiety relief from a super stressful corporate job and a bad marriage. I actually walked out of my first several classes because they weren’t “intense” enough, but I did notice that the regular yogis at the gym seemed happier, less stressed, and more comfortable in their own skin. So, I did what they did, and showed up on my mat every day. It didn’t take too long before I noticed changes, internally and externally, and was hooked. After practicing regularly for a year, I was able to ditch a litany of meds that I thought I’d be taking forever. Yoga had literally cured me, and I needed to share that with others. In 2012, I completed my first teacher training at Pulsation Yoga in Arlington Heights. It was truly one of the best and most transformative experiences of my life, which is why I continue my yoga studies by regularly taking teacher trainings and attending yoga retreats each year.
A personal tragedy and a shattered left wrist side-lined my practice and my teaching for a handful of years. Most doctors said I’d never be able to do yoga again, but I proved them wrong. I healed myself through yoga. Again.
Yoga taught me what it means to honor my body, mind, and soul. It has changed the way I look at life by getting me to slow down and appreciate each moment. When I’m entering a challenging posture or balancing, my breath and movement connecting is the only thing I’m concentrating on. I strive daily to bring this essential peace off of the mat and into my life. Yoga has been my best teacher, and my practice is my journey. I’m beyond grateful to be able to teach again and share my passion with others who wish to know the healing powers of yoga!
